SPEAKER_00 00:00 - 00:06

What's going on, guys? It's Jazzy, and today I'm here with multi-talented musician, businesswoman, and fashionista, Ms. Rihanna.

SPEAKER_00 00:06 - 00:12

Ms. Rihanna, how are you doing today?

SPEAKER_01 00:13 - 00:15

Hello, I'm good, Jazzy. How are you?

SPEAKER_00 00:15 - 00:16

I'm very excited for this interview.

SPEAKER_01 00:16 - 00:20

I am too. I've always been a fan of your interviews, and I feel honored.

SPEAKER_00 00:20 - 00:23

Thank you so much, and of course, I'm a fan of you as well.

SPEAKER_01 00:23 - 00:24

Thank you.

SPEAKER_00 00:24 - 00:30

First of all, I just want to point out, I love the new Fenty Puma Avanti collab, and I love how you handpicked me to be here.

SPEAKER_00 00:30 - 00:36

I mean, it's honestly an honor to be here and interview you, and I really love all the clothing and the shoes that you guys gave me.

SPEAKER_00 00:36 - 00:37

It's amazing.

SPEAKER_01 00:37 - 00:38

Thank you.

SPEAKER_01 00:38 - 00:53

Well, the shoes that I designed for Puma, I just redesigned something that was always a part of Puma's history, and for me, it was something that elevated all of my aesthetic, all of my mom clothes.

SPEAKER_01 00:53 - 00:59

Everything that I'm supposed to feel comfortable always gets a bit lazy, and you always want to find a way to elevate that.

SPEAKER_01 00:59 - 01:05

So I wanted to do that with the shoe, and I always wanted it to be on cool people like you.

SPEAKER_01 01:05 - 01:07

So I'm so happy that you love it.

SPEAKER_00 01:08 - 01:11

Well, hey, it's fashionable and it's comfortable at the same time, so I really like it.

SPEAKER_01 01:12 - 01:13

Cozy. Cozy boots.

SPEAKER_00 01:14 - 01:20

So you're an inspiration to young girls all across the world, not only as a musician, but also as a businesswoman and fashionista, as I pointed out before.

SPEAKER_00 01:20 - 01:27

What are some of the most difficult challenges you have experienced upon your transition into the business and fashion world?

SPEAKER_01 01:27 - 01:28

How old are you now?

SPEAKER_00 01:28 - 01:29

I'm 14 right now.

SPEAKER_01 01:29 - 01:30

14. Okay.

SPEAKER_01 01:30 - 01:33

So I started in this industry.

SPEAKER_01 01:33 - 01:34

I was signed at 16.

SPEAKER_01 01:34 - 01:41

I turned 17 shortly thereafter, but as you could imagine, I wanted to hire all experts around me.

SPEAKER_01 01:42 - 01:44

And so the experts weren't 17.

SPEAKER_01 01:44 - 01:45

They weren't 16.

SPEAKER_01 01:45 - 01:48

They were all people who were older than I was.

SPEAKER_01 01:48 - 01:50

People in their 20s, 30s, 40s.

SPEAKER_01 01:50 - 01:54

Just people that have been in this game and can teach me everything that I needed to know.

SPEAKER_01 01:54 - 01:58

But the challenge for me was people taking me seriously.

SPEAKER_01 02:00 - 02:12

People always took me seriously as a creative, but when it came to the business aspect, I don't think people understood that I was getting acquainted with that aspect of it as well.

SPEAKER_01 02:13 - 02:21

So it worked out in my favor, but it was a challenge for people to speak to me on that level.

SPEAKER_00 02:21 - 02:29

Totally agree with you because I feel like sometimes it can be hard for, especially when you're young in a certain space, it's hard for a lot of older people to really get adjusted to that.

SPEAKER_01 02:30 - 02:30

Of course.

SPEAKER_00 02:31 - 02:33

And to kind of support that in a way.

SPEAKER_00 02:34 - 02:39

And, you know, I feel like, yeah, that can be pretty challenging, especially as a young person just getting used to that.

SPEAKER_01 02:39 - 02:47

Yes, because our community, we know how to make money, but we don't really know how to keep it because we haven't been taught like financial literacy as much.

SPEAKER_01 02:47 - 02:50

But I feel like that was a big challenge.

SPEAKER_01 02:50 - 02:55

But I learned that and I've always took pride in learning more about that.

SPEAKER_00 02:55 - 02:56

Wow.

SPEAKER_01 02:56 - 02:57

And you should, too.

SPEAKER_01 02:57 - 02:59

If you're going to start a business, learn about the business first.

SPEAKER_00 03:00 - 03:00

Understood.

SPEAKER_00 03:00 - 03:01

For sure.

SPEAKER_00 03:01 - 03:01

Yes, I will.

SPEAKER_00 03:02 - 03:06

And tapping into new industries and tapping into new ventures is a challenge.

SPEAKER_00 03:06 - 03:08

And it's pretty scary at first.

SPEAKER_00 03:08 - 03:13

But as long as you are very calculated about how you're going to get there, that's very crucial.

SPEAKER_00 03:13 - 03:14

And that's all you need.

SPEAKER_01 03:14 - 03:23

I think the freedom in getting into an industry is probably going to be the easiest space you'll ever be in.

SPEAKER_01 03:23 - 03:32

Because once you start getting into the calculations and the logistics and the things you've learned, it gets a lot tougher because you have to think from a different space.

SPEAKER_01 03:33 - 03:34

At first, it's always free.

SPEAKER_01 03:35 - 03:36

You'll figure this out.

SPEAKER_01 03:36 - 03:40

Like, even as a teenager in your early 20s, you're going to feel very free.

SPEAKER_01 03:40 - 03:51

But then when you get older and you start to figure out other aspects, perspectives on life and business, things are going to get a lot more challenging.

SPEAKER_01 03:51 - 03:56

I encourage you to keep that same freedom that you have right now, always.

SPEAKER_01 03:56 - 03:57

That's my only advice.

SPEAKER_00 03:57 - 03:58

Got it.

SPEAKER_00 03:58 - 03:58

Thank you.

SPEAKER_00 03:58 - 04:00

And I'll be sure to keep that in my heart.

SPEAKER_01 04:00 - 04:05

Do things your way, but don't ever feel like your wings aren't there.

SPEAKER_00 04:06 - 04:06

Understood.

SPEAKER_00 04:07 - 04:12

Well, Ms. Rihanna, you're originally from Barbados and repping every chance you get, especially during Carnival time.

SPEAKER_00 04:12 - 04:15

The world is going to know that we bid you into the bowl.

SPEAKER_00 04:15 - 04:19

Why is it so important for you to stay in tune with your culture and with your West Indian roots?

SPEAKER_00 04:20 - 04:22

And what do you love most about being from Barbados?

SPEAKER_01 04:22 - 04:25

I actually only know being from Barbados.

SPEAKER_01 04:25 - 04:26

I only know my culture.

SPEAKER_01 04:26 - 04:29

I only know the things that I'm comfortable with.

SPEAKER_01 04:29 - 04:32

I feel comfortable in spaces that I'm familiar with.

SPEAKER_01 04:32 - 04:34

I don't like a lot of change.

SPEAKER_01 04:35 - 04:41

But Barbados will always be represented through any art form of mine because I can't really help it.

SPEAKER_01 04:41 - 04:43

It's not even a choice of mine.

SPEAKER_01 04:43 - 04:48

But as long as I do have the choice, Barbados will be a part of me.

SPEAKER_00 04:49 - 04:50

Well, I love how you rep where you're from.

SPEAKER_00 04:50 - 04:52

Any chance that you get, I feel like that's very important.

SPEAKER_00 04:53 - 04:53

Representation is key.

SPEAKER_00 04:54 - 04:58

As I always say, you look beautiful in your masquerade costume during Carnival time and Barbados.

SPEAKER_00 04:58 - 04:59

I really loved it.

SPEAKER_00 04:59 - 05:00

Thank you.

SPEAKER_00 05:00 - 05:03

And making sure that everyone knows where you're from is also very important.

SPEAKER_01 05:03 - 05:04

Of course.

SPEAKER_01 05:04 - 05:05

Where are you from?

SPEAKER_00 05:05 - 05:06

I'm from Panama.

SPEAKER_01 05:06 - 05:07

What?

SPEAKER_01 05:07 - 05:07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 05:08 - 05:09

Caribbean girl.

SPEAKER_01 05:09 - 05:10

Caribbean massive.

SPEAKER_00 05:11 - 05:12

Thank you.

SPEAKER_01 05:12 - 05:13

Thank you.

SPEAKER_00 05:14 - 05:15

I love that.

SPEAKER_00 05:15 - 05:20

So being a mother of two, I know is not easy because my mom, she's a mother of six.

SPEAKER_00 05:21 - 05:21

Oh, wow.

SPEAKER_00 05:22 - 05:22

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 05:22 - 05:25

She has to juggle six kids every single day and it's not easy.

SPEAKER_01 05:26 - 05:26

Your mother's a gem.

SPEAKER_00 05:27 - 05:27

Yes.

SPEAKER_00 05:27 - 05:28

Shout out to my mom, by the way.

SPEAKER_01 05:29 - 05:29

And an MVP.

SPEAKER_01 05:30 - 05:30

Oh, that's mom?

SPEAKER_00 05:31 - 05:31

Yeah, that's my mom right there.

SPEAKER_01 05:31 - 05:32

MVP right there.

SPEAKER_01 05:33 - 05:33

Wow.

SPEAKER_00 05:34 - 05:34

Thank you.

SPEAKER_01 05:34 - 05:38

You'll see one day at 50 when they allow you to date for the first time.

SPEAKER_00 05:39 - 05:41

Well, more than likely, yeah.

SPEAKER_00 05:42 - 05:45

But, you know, I know that's not very easy for her, but she's not as busy as you.

SPEAKER_01 05:45 - 05:49

By the way, don't ever underestimate your mom.

SPEAKER_01 05:49 - 05:57

She's probably a lot more busy than me and she has to worry for the rest of her life times six, six kids.

SPEAKER_01 05:57 - 05:57

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 05:57 - 06:00

It's not easy just worrying.

SPEAKER_01 06:00 - 06:02

The worry alone is a lot.

SPEAKER_01 06:02 - 06:02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 06:02 - 06:04

Providing is a lot.

SPEAKER_01 06:04 - 06:09

Knowing and understanding that each of you are individuals and have individual needs is a lot.

SPEAKER_01 06:09 - 06:12

I think being a mom is probably the hardest job ever.

SPEAKER_01 06:13 - 06:15

My job seems challenging.

SPEAKER_01 06:17 - 06:19

Nothing compared to being a mom.

SPEAKER_01 06:20 - 06:20

Trust me.

SPEAKER_01 06:21 - 06:23

So always say, mom, I respect you.

SPEAKER_01 06:23 - 06:24

I love you.

SPEAKER_01 06:24 - 06:25

Great job.

SPEAKER_01 06:26 - 06:27

Because we need to hear it sometimes.

SPEAKER_00 06:28 - 06:29

Take it from a mom.

SPEAKER_00 06:30 - 06:31

For sure, yes.

SPEAKER_01 06:31 - 06:32

Stop crying, Jen.

SPEAKER_00 06:33 - 06:39

Do you ever look back at your childhood and really just kind of look back at the sacrifices that your mom made?

SPEAKER_01 06:39 - 06:39

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01 06:39 - 06:40

That's why I'm saying that.

SPEAKER_00 06:40 - 06:40

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 06:41 - 06:44

You know, like you're a kid and you're like, mom, mom, mommy, mommy.

SPEAKER_01 06:45 - 06:47

And then when you grow up, you're just like, wow.

SPEAKER_01 06:48 - 06:50

She made this look easy and just normal.

SPEAKER_01 06:51 - 06:54

I don't even remember a day that my mom was sick.

SPEAKER_01 06:54 - 06:55

You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01 06:55 - 07:00

Like, you don't remember your mom ever not being available for you.

SPEAKER_01 07:01 - 07:05

And now that you're an adult, you're just like, oh, my goodness.

SPEAKER_01 07:06 - 07:07

She's a superhuman.

SPEAKER_01 07:07 - 07:08

She's the MVP.

SPEAKER_01 07:08 - 07:09

That's why I said that.

SPEAKER_01 07:09 - 07:18

Like, she did this with less resources and she made it look so seamless.

SPEAKER_01 07:18 - 07:27

And I look up to her so much because it's hard on me even though I have less kids, less resources, and less time.

SPEAKER_01 07:27 - 07:31

And she made it so beautiful.

SPEAKER_01 07:31 - 07:33

I always looked up to her even as a child.

SPEAKER_01 07:34 - 07:36

And as a mom, I look up to her even more.

SPEAKER_00 07:36 - 07:38

Shout out to all the moms out there.

SPEAKER_00 07:38 - 07:38

You guys are amazing.

SPEAKER_00 07:39 - 07:39

Yes.

SPEAKER_00 07:39 - 07:44

And shout out to all the moms that make, you know, I know that all moms make sacrifices for their kids.

SPEAKER_00 07:44 - 07:45

So, shout out to you guys.

SPEAKER_00 07:45 - 07:47

You guys are the real MVPs, like you said.

SPEAKER_01 07:47 - 07:49

Y'all can all make a round of applause for the mamas, girl.

SPEAKER_01 07:50 - 07:50

A round of applause.

SPEAKER_01 07:50 - 07:53

Everybody needs to make noise for the mamas.

SPEAKER_00 07:53 - 07:54

Yep.

SPEAKER_00 07:54 - 07:59

And we really do appreciate you guys even though sometimes we may not say it, but we really do love you guys.

SPEAKER_00 07:59 - 08:01

And we really do appreciate everything.

SPEAKER_00 08:01 - 08:02

All the sacrifices, everything.

SPEAKER_00 08:03 - 08:03

So, thank you.

SPEAKER_01 08:05 - 08:07

Who birthed this child right here?

SPEAKER_00 08:08 - 08:09

You are incredible.

SPEAKER_00 08:09 - 08:10

Thank you.

SPEAKER_00 08:10 - 08:11

Oh, my God.

SPEAKER_00 08:11 - 08:12

Thank you.

SPEAKER_00 08:13 - 08:19

So, I don't know if you remember, but in the summertime, we took a picture at Yankee Stadium when I saw you.

SPEAKER_00 08:19 - 08:20

Okay, let me see.

SPEAKER_00 08:20 - 08:28

I posted it, and a lot of people, they wrote, well, it was like a million comments, and they were asking for me to ask you when new music is dropping.

SPEAKER_00 08:28 - 08:31

So, hey, can we expect any new music?

SPEAKER_00 08:31 - 08:32

Hey, ABC.

UNKNOWN 08:34 - 08:35

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 08:35 - 08:37

Can we expect any new music dropping soon?

SPEAKER_00 08:38 - 08:39

At least a hit or two.

SPEAKER_01 08:40 - 08:43

So far, I've been singing, like, Gracie's Corner at ABC.

SPEAKER_01 08:45 - 08:46

But it's not my song.

SPEAKER_00 08:46 - 08:47

Okay.

SPEAKER_01 08:47 - 08:48

But I love it.

SPEAKER_00 08:48 - 08:50

All right, well, thank you so much.

SPEAKER_01 08:50 - 08:51

Thank you so much.

SPEAKER_00 08:51 - 08:53

Can you please share some words of motivation to everyone watching my show?

SPEAKER_01 08:54 - 08:55

Oh, my gosh.

SPEAKER_01 08:55 - 08:56

She's a star.

SPEAKER_01 08:57 - 08:58

She's a role model.

SPEAKER_01 08:58 - 09:03

And by the way, this is not easy to be this confident as a young lady.

SPEAKER_01 09:03 - 09:05

But she can show you the way.

SPEAKER_01 09:05 - 09:12

Because trust me, if I had someone like you in my life when I was a little girl, my confidence would have started a lot earlier.

SPEAKER_01 09:12 - 09:14

You're so cool.

SPEAKER_00 09:14 - 09:15

Thank you so much.

SPEAKER_00 09:15 - 09:15

Yes.

SPEAKER_00 09:15 - 09:16

And that means a lot coming from you.

SPEAKER_01 09:16 - 09:17

Yes.

SPEAKER_00 09:17 - 09:24

Well, everyone, I'm here with multi-talented, businesswoman, musician, and everything all above.

SPEAKER_00 09:25 - 09:26

Thank you so much, Ms. Riri.

SPEAKER_00 09:26 - 09:27

And we're having a great time.

SPEAKER_00 09:28 - 09:29

And until next time, Jazza out.

SPEAKER_00 09:32 - 09:33

Thank you so much.

SPEAKER_00 09:33 - 09:34

Like, that meant a lot to me.

SPEAKER_00 09:34 - 09:35

I love it.

UNKNOWN 09:35 - 09:35

Thank you.

UNKNOWN 09:35 - 09:35

Thank you.
